BMW to Field Two Prototypes in 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship

The upcoming 24 Hours of Le Mans is set to witness the return of BMW to the iconic endurance race after a 25-year absence. The German automaker will participate in the 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship with two prototypes in the Hypercar class.

BMW's return marks a significant milestone for the brand, as it last won the race in 1999 with its legendary V12 LMR. The M Hybrid V8, the car that will represent BMW at Le Mans this year, has already showcased its capabilities with a successful outing at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium.

BMW will face formidable competition in the Hypercar class, with rivals such as Toyota, Peugeot, Porsche, Ferrari, Glickenhaus, Cadillac, Lamborghini, and Alpine lining up on the grid. The race begins on Saturday at 1600 CEST, preceded by the traditional drivers parade in the city on Friday afternoon.
